IAS 1 sets out the overall requirements for financial statements, including their structure and content. It aims to ensure that financial statements are comparable, both with the entity's financial statements of previous periods and with the financial statements of other entities.
IAS 1 governs the presentation of financial statements: which components a financial statement prepared in accordance with IFRS includes, how the statement of financial position and the statement of comprehensive income are to be structured, and what disclosures are required in the notes.
What prior knowledge do I need?
Basic knowledge of accounting and an overview of the IFRS Conceptual Framework are helpful, but not essential.
